The Alila Manggis is an older hotel on the seafront (no beach) with lovely established gardens and very good staff. The rooms are simple and quite sparse - nice but not large or luxurious but they have everything you need. All rooms look out onto the lovely pool. The food was generally good but we were very disappointed in the Balinese BBQ night when there were just too many guests in the restaurant - cold food, very poor service and not good value. Spa treatments were very good, but be careful with the spa escape package - it was the only item anywhere in the hotel that we saw that was priced in US dollars and not Rupiah - not sure why!

We had the ocean view villa with a cabana overlooking the sea where we could watch beautiful sun rises. The room was basic but the cabana made up for it. Overall we enjoyed our stay but there are a few things which could be improved.
- wifi was on and off and generally very weak. We did complain about it but there wasn't any improvement. And btw, the dive shop across the street had fantastic wifi.
- we had breakfast buffet on 3 days but the food was always cold. On days where breakfast a la card was offered it was much better.
- more sun beds for the pool area would be nice.
What needs to be mentioned is that the staff is really very friendly.
Expensive for what I would rate as 3 star accommodation. But what price do you put on the amazing endless pool and view?
A new dive pool is under construction which should please the divers who attend for courses etc.
Newish hotel, spotlessly clean. Independent chalets so no noise from adjoining rooms, very quiet, great beds, great a/c & neat pool. Bathroom is very good. Hard to find anything negative. Road noise in the restaurant is about all but other than that one of the best places we've stayed in Bali & really great value for money. Diving gear is near new & in top condition, dive staff are very good. On main road but the beach access for diving/snorkeling is close by.
Very rare for me to give a 5 rating - Would definitely stay there again.
Great place to relax and unwind. Rooms are large bed was good, breakfast was very pleasing only thing I would complain about was bar staff were very very slow for drinks and ordering a meal. But overall a great place..

Divers and snorkelers head to Amed, located on Bali's northeastern coast, where the USS Liberty shipwreck is located in nearby Tulamben. Traditional outrigger boats welcome passengers aboard for fishing charters from Amed's black sand beaches, and paddleboarders can gaze at Mount Agung as they glide along the surface of Jemeluk Bay. Beachfront bungalows and cottages offer tranquil stays in Amed.
